Jennifer Wescoe, BASD class of 1994, has served as a teacher in the BASD for twenty-two years. She was raised in Bethlehem attending several BASD schools. Jennifer had many dynamic educators and supportive staff members who inspired her creativity and encouraged her to pursue a career in education. While in high school, Jennifer was a Choralier, girls basketball team captain, and senior class president. Her favorite high school memory was playing “Reno Sweeney” in Liberty’s production of Anything Goes. After graduating, Jennifer received both her B.A. in English and M.Ed from Lehigh University.
Jennifer enthusiastically led the Freedom High School Theatre Company for two generations of students, in which they garnered thirty-three State Theatre Freddy Awards. Along with FHSTC, she was featured on the Oprah Winfrey Network in the documentary Most Valuable Players (2010). FHSTC was also the subject of The WB’s web series High Drama 2 (2011). In 2012, she earned a $100K grant through State Farm and created an interactive drama program that took “The Super Improver Safety Squad” on tour to promote driver, pedestrian, bicycle, and internet safety to students at all twenty-two BASD schools. Jennifer was honored to receive the Linny Award for Arts Educator of the Year (2018), a State Theatre Freddy Award (2018), and the Bethlehem Fine Arts Commission Tribute to the Arts Award (2013). Jennifer recently returned to her roots at LHS, where she currently teaches English and is the sports announcer for the field hockey and lacrosse teams. Jennifer was built by Bethlehem and hopes to help continue building our city’s future for years to come!
