Dr. Kate Kieres
Dr. Kate Kieres has served as the Principal of Emmaus High School for the past four years. She is BASD proud, having attended Calypso Elementary and Nitschmann Middle School. In 1994, Kate graduated from Liberty High School and went on to attend Penn State University for her B. A. She continued her education at Lehigh University completing her M.Ed. and Seton Hall University, obtaining her Ed.D. in Educational Leadership, Management, and Policy. Kate cherishes her years at Liberty due to the strong sense of tradition, school spirit, student diversity, and incredible friendships that she still enjoys today. She is thankful for the dedicated, caring and inspiring teachers who nurtured and guided me throughout her educational experience in Bethlehem. Prior to serving in her current role, Kate held the administrative positions of Assistant Superintendent in the Palisades School District, Director of Curriculum, Instruction and Assessment for Palisades School District, and Assistant Principal at Emmaus High School.
In addition, Kate is an Adjunct Professor in the Doctoral Program in Education Leadership at Gwynedd Mercy University. She chose to become an educator out of her love for working with teenagers/young adults and being in a school environment. She wanted the opportunity to make a daily and lasting impact on people's lives. While her most rewarding career accomplishment is becoming a high school principal, her proudest life moment was the birth of her children. Kate lives with her husband of 20 years, Bert, and their children Ben (16) and Maggie (8).
